Mystory Reflection

*Feelings: The image I chose as my wide image is the unedited version of the one I used for my Photoshop/Irony Blog, of myself as a child. This photograph makes me reminisce about my childhood when all I did was dream about the future and about becoming a vet “when I grew up”. It reminds me of my family, grandparents specifically, since the picture was taken in their backyard, and it makes me wish I could go back to those times when I did not have a single care in the world and my only responsibility was going to school. When I observe this picture, I see myself being taught how to live and how to work hard to get my happily-ever-after.

*Metaphysics: The smirk on my face and the way I am reaching for the flowers shows that the photograph was staged. The same way that a grown up told me how to pose for the “perfect picture”, my family has ensured that I work hard and educate myself so that I can get rewarded in the future—in this picture represented by the flowers. As I reach for the flowers, I am reaching for my future, and just like I was told to grab the flowers, I was told to educate myself, both of which I did.

*Morality: Our family shapes us into who we are and will be in the future. As fragile, innocent children we are born into families responsible for our personal growth and education. They teach us how and what is important to learn and how to welcome our future. Although a family is in charge of educating the young, it is up to the child to open up to the learning process. This learning process should be stimulated and challenged, which is why early childhood educators play such an important role in the formation of a child’s persona, the reason why I aspire to become a teacher.
