Blog

Throughout the course of the semester, I was assigned a series of reflexive assignments in which I had to analyze what was discussed in class, and apply what was learned by creating a series of blog posts. Although each one was of a different topic, in all of them images and text had to be related to each other, either by using pictures to supplement the text or adding text to images. In some cases, visual arguments had to be created, which I could say was the most challenging aspect of this blogging experience. We are taught how to read words, but we are not taught how to read images, which I learned in ENG1131 are also considered a form of text. Blogging was a new experience for me and it was an interesting way of academic writing. I felt more comfortable with blogging my assignments than I ever felt while writing a formal academic paper. I believe blogging is an innovative way for testing a student’s knowledge and more convenient for both student and teacher. While a teacher can have access to her students’ work at all times and from anywhere, a student can also complete their assignments at home, which helps those students that for some reason could not make it to class turn in their assignments. Therefore, blogging ensures responsibility on behalf of the student. Finally, and most importantly, turning in paper-less assignments is beneficial for the environment.
